I know that many had similar problems with training from IITs and other private schools (because they weren’t specifically thinking about learning programming. But when you’re finally ready, you are better off with any of these classes!). If in doubt, don’t wait. Find a research group focused on a specific problem that you see in a book or about a specific software project and that group will dig deep into this material and talk about doing a more widely available course in your area (and also help you understand your strengths if you can).
